Maybe it’s because I’ve lived in L.A. and New York for all of my adult life, but I love a little glam with my Halloween. And for you parents out there, I’m a big believer that it’s never too early to add a little glam to your little ones lives. Halloween is a little less than two weeks away, but there’s still time to plan a glamourous halloween for yourself, your family and your friends. Here’s some inspiration to help you do just that:
Spray Paint Your Pumpkins and Gourds
Add a layer of spray paint in silver or gold for a dose of instant glam. Black also makes a glamourous backdrop. If you’re feeling ambitious, add lines, dots or pictures of skeletons and ghosts.
Carve An Interesting Design
Create a chevron pumpkin by drawing the chevron design on your pumpkin and gouging out the top layer of pumpkin flesh with a lino cutter, a great tip we picked up from Amanda Wright at Wit at Whistle. Use Martha Stewarts free Halloween Pumpkin Templates to carve skulls, bats, spiders and other spooky or whimsical designs into your pumpkins and gourds. Or, carve a lace pattern into your pumpkin using these instructions from MarthaStewart.com.
Turn Your Pumpkin And Gourds Into Candleholders
Cut off the stem of a pumpkin and gourd and carve out a little receptacle large enough to hold a clear glass votive holder in which you place a single votive candle.
Glam Up Your Costume
Who says you can’t look glamorous on Halloween? Don a ball gown and a fabulous mask. Paint glitter on your lips. Glue mini feathers to your lash line using falsies glue. Wear a sari with a glittery bindi affixed to your forehead, or a kimono with a stark black wig.
