We Heart Altuzarra Spring 2013

Joseph Altuzarra makes me weak in the knees. He makes seriously beautiful clothing that’s polished, sumptuous, free-spirited, grounded. His clothing takes me places, and his Spring 2013 Ready To Wear Collection is no exception. It takes me to East Africa (a place that lives large in my heart), and to India (a place that looms large in my imagination) and to any business or social event I could ever need to go to, save, perchance, The Academy Awards and, okay, any other black tie event.

These are clothes to wear by day, and well into the evening, exquisitely tailored clothes that hang on the body like armor, like a festive costume, like a glamorous pair of pajamas. Maybe I’m speaking nonsense, with all these contradictory things, but that’s the magic of Altuzarra. It’s so very many things all at once.

    The enture collection is lovely, and actually looks like something that real women woould wear.  Two pieces really caught my eye  I love the Black suit wth the gold tassel on the belt.  That suit is just nasty…in a good way.  I also loved the gold, fish scale bodice with the black skirt.  Thanks for highlighting a new designer.

      I so agree with you about the “real women” wearability of it all. Perhaps that’s why I love it so much. Both of those pieces are divine!
