Incognito:
Looking Great On Hectic Days

Incognito_JenniferLawrence

Jennifer Lawrence has mastered the art of going incognito (that’s her above, looking like a bandit in a moto jacket and Wild West hat). You can too, ’cause let’s face it, we all need to fly below the radar sometimes.

Whether you’re dodging paparazzi, or just trying to lay low while doing the school run, Lawrence’s look will keep you looking the part of the hip, comfy badass, ready to take on whatever the world throws your way. Let’s face it, juggling career, family, friends, and all life’s many demands can be hard sometimes, but if you can manage to look fresh and pulled together, you’ll actually feel fresh and pulled together. The things you do with your body — from the way you eat, to the way you dress, to whether you exercise — send signals to your brain: that you’re in command, that you are a well-oiled, if very busy, machine, that you can juggle all of this with grace (and grace is the key to mastering the many circumstances we face in our lives.

We all have to find our own uniform. Lawrence’s look is ideal for an edgier, rocker-chick kind of woman. You can recreate the look with pieces like these:

The key to Lawrence’s look is the combo of hat and sunnies. You could tuck dirty, unkempt hair under that brim and no one would be the wiser, and a pair of stylish oversized sunnies could hide even the tiredest of eyes. It’s tricks like these that prove to be the key to being perpetually well turned out, no matter how much you’ve been burning it at both ends of the candlestick. And the cozy sweater, comfy ballets, skinny trousers and roomy tote complete the look. They’re as comfy as sweats, but so much easier on the eye and the self-esteem.

Of course, this look isn’t for everyone.

If you  have classic leanings, you might try a variation on the theme, like Ashley Olsen’s slim fit trousers and button-front shirt, above, left. Or if ladylike’s your thing, toss on a pair of pencil leg trousers with a simple, ladylike top, like writer and blogger Miroslava Duma, above, right. Add a hat and/or sunnies to take either of these looks “undercover.”
